Poète américain et bouddhiste zen,
Norman Fischer publie depuis 1979. Dans les années 70
et 80, il a été associé avec les poètes L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E, mais son travail va au-delà d’un seul style ou mouvement. Notatrice, elle note, c’est-à-dire observe et remarque, et note, c’est-à-dire consigne, met en écrits ce qui est remarquable. La notation concernant une partie du réel environnant, l’alentour, l’immédiat, Sabine Macher visualise depuis les gestes qui démarrent de son corps ou depuis ce qui évolue dans le même espace comme nouvel entrant dans une même chorégraphie très ordinaire, quand bien même cela a la taille d’une fourmi ou l’apparente immobilité d’un bananier d’appartement.’’
- Jean-Pascal Dubost Née en Allemagne de l'ouest, en 1955, Sabine Macher, écrivain, traductrice, photographe se consacre aussi à la danse contemporaine. Depuis 1976 elle vit en France, à Paris ou à Marseille et dans la train, en tournée où ses lectures, se transforment souvent en performance, voire improvisation. Elle traduit également pour le théâtre et le cinéma, et a participé à plusieurs ateliers de traduction en Allemagne et aux Etats-Unis. Poet and Zen Buddhist
Norman Fischer, a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, has been publishing poetry since 1979. Loosely associated with the L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E poets of the seventies and eighties, he maintains close creative and personal relationships with many writers from that movement. As is the case with most engaged writers who have published much over many years, Fischer’s work has changed over time and defies easy definitions. Fischer rejects the idea of his poetry as an expression or confession emanating from a unified and knowing self.
“There’s no self or person, just what arises...writing is words, how they sound, how they look lying on the page.” Fischer’s poetry traces a consciousness well aware, albeit often enough puzzled, by the ever changing conditions of self/ other/ environment/ language. His writing reminds us of the idea that language is at once an avenue of imprisonment 
and liberation, and we may never be altogether certain which. There is a consistent mood of uncertainty, wonder and playfulness to his work, a heuristic quality as noted in his poem I’ve Changed: “This word/ I wanted to fondle / That I threw out into the world / That never had a meaning or referent / Except to stand for all I do not know and fear / Now I can feel what it wanted to tell me.” Norman Fischer has published fourteen books of essays and poetry: A Far and Permanent Lid (Bezoar magazine, 1979), like a walk through a park (Open Books, 1980)
