Catherine Barnett est née à Washington D.C. et a passé son enfance près de la baie de San Francisco. Elle est l’auteur de trois collections de poésie: son dernier livre, Human Hours, publié par Graywolf Press, vient d’être nommé un des meilleurs recueils de poésie de 2018 par le New York Times et New York Magazine. Ses deux recueils précédents sont Into Perfect Spheres Such Holes Are Pierced (Alice James Books) et The Game of Boxes (Graywolf), gagnant du prix James Laughlin de l’Académie de Poètes Américains. Son oeuvre a été inclue dans Best American Poetry en 2016, et a récemment été publiée dans The New Yorker, Harper’s, The American Poetry Review, the Washington Post, Poetry et The New York Review of Books. Ancienne journaliste et éditrice de magazine, Catherine est maintenant professeur d’écriture créative à NYU, professeur distinguée à Hunter College, et habite à New York. Elle travaille aussi comme éditrice indépendante, et a travaillé avec compositeur Richard Einhorn sur le libretto de “The Origin,” son oratorio multimédia sur la vie de Charles Darwin. Ses prix et distinctions honorifiques incluent un Whiting Award et un Guggenheim Fellowship.

 

Andrea INGLESE (1967), poète, romancier, traducteur et essayiste, vit dans les environs de Paris. Il a été professeur de philosophie et d'histoire au lycée en Italie et en France il a enseigné la langue et la littérature italienne à l’Université Paris III. Il est actuellement enseignant de Sciences Humaines à l’École Bleue (design global) de Paris.

Il a publié en Italie plusieurs livres de poésie et de prose. Parmi ses livres de poésie, La distrazione (Sossella, 2008, prix Montano 2009) et La grande anitra (Oèdipus, 2013), Ollivud (Prufrock Spa, 2018) ; en français, Colonne d’aveugles (traduction de l’italien par Pascal Leclercq, Le Clou Dans Le Fer, 2007), Prati / Pelouses (traduction de l'italien par Laurent Grisel, Eric Houser et Magali Amougou, La Camera Verde, 2007) et Lettres à la Réinsertion Culturelle du Chômeur (traduction de l’italien par Stéphane Bouquet, Nous, 2013). Parmi ses livres de proses : « Prati » dans le volume collectif Prosa in prosa (Le Lettere, 2009), Quando Kubrick inventò la fantascienza (La Camera Verde, 2011) et Commiato da Andromeda (Valigie Rosse, prix Ciampi 2011). Il a dirigé et traduit l’anthologie italienne de Jean-Jacques Viton Il commento definitivo. Poesie 1984-2008 (Metauro éditions, 2009). Il a traduit en italien d’autres auteurs tels que Caroline Dubois, Antoine Volodine, Jérôme Mauche, Nathalie Quintane, Stéphane Bouquet, Pascal Leclercq, Virginie Poitrasson, Liliane Giraudon et Vincent Tholomé. Son premier roman, Parigi è un desiderio est paru en Italie en 2016 (Ponte alle Grazie, prix Bridge 2017). En 2018, avec le vidéo-artiste Sergio Trapani, il a réalisé le film Le long briefing.

Il a participé au projet de résidence collective et autogérée réalisée à Verbérie, Le Moulin 14-19 juillet 2014, avec M. Batalla, A. Cava, J. K. Dick, L. Grisel, M. Guatteri, A. Kawala, F. Manlik, R. Morresi, M. Perrin, G. Weinzaepflen (traduction collective, Benway Series, 2014)

Il est rédacteur de la revue d’intervention culturelle « Alfabeta2 » (www.alfabeta2.it); il est une des membres fondateurs du blog collectif Nazione Indiana (www.nazioneindiana.com). Il dirige le projet collective Descrizione del mondo, une installation collective d’images, sons, écritures (www.descrizionedelmondo).

Il collabore aux pages culturelles du quotidien « il Manifesto ».

Il a été écrivain résident pour l’année 2010-2011 de la Région Ile de France.

 

Gilles Weinzaepflen est un poète, musicien et cinéaste né à Mulhouse (1966). Il a récemment publié son troisième livre de poésie Soleil grigri (Lanskine, 2018) et donné des lectures avec le musicien David Fenech (Maison de la Poésie de Paris, Maison Julien Gracq). Cinéaste, il a tourné La Poésie s’appelle reviens (2011), documentaire qui présente un aperçu du champ poétique contemporain. Le film précédent Prélude au sommeil (2008) est un portrait du compositeur pop électronique Jean-Jacques Perrey (1929-2016). Ces deux films sont visibles sur youtube. Dans Le Liseré vert, Gilles filme le bornage de l’ancienne frontière franco-allemande (1871-1918). Musicien sous le nom Toog, il a réalisé 7 disques (Etats-Unis, Allemagne, Angleterre, France, Japon), pays dans lesquels il a tourné avec l’artiste écossais Momus. Il a écrit 32 chansons pour l’émission Zone de libre échange sur France Culture et composé la musique de 4 spectacles de Myriam Marzouki, sur des textes contemporains (Festival d’Avignon 2013). Il collabore régulièrement avec Emmanuelle Pireyre (prix Médicis 2012) lors de performances musicales. En 2004 il a réalisé l’album Lou étendue avec Asia Argento, un projet croisant l’expérience d’Apolllinaire pendant la guerre (Poèmes à Lou) et la catastrophe du 11 septembre.

She is the author of three collections of poetry: her most recent book, Human Hours, was just published by Graywolf Press and was recently named one of the best poetry collections of 2018 by the New York Times and New York Magazine. Her two previous collections are Into Perfect Spheres Such Holes Are Pierced (Alice James Books) and The Game of Boxes (Graywolf), winner of the James Laughlin Award of the Academy of American Poets. Her work is included in the 2016 Best American Poetry, and has recently been published in The New Yorker, Harper's, The American Poetry Review, The Washington Post, Poetry, and The New York Review of Books. A former journalist and magazine editor, she now teaches graduate and undergraduate students in the Creative Writing Program at NYU, is a Distinguished Lecturer at Hunter College, and lives in New York City. She also works as an independent editor and has collaborated with the composer Richard Einhorn on the libretto for "The Origin," his multimedia oratorio about the life of Charles Darwin. Her honors include a Whiting Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship. 

 

Andrea Inglese, poet, essayist, novelist, blogger, translator and literary activist, was born in Italy in 1967. He lives in Paris. He is PhD in Comparative Literature and he has held teaching positions in Contemporary Italian Literature at the University of Paris III. He published a monograph on the theory of the novel: L’eroe segreto. Il personaggio nella modernità dalla confessione al solipsismo [The Secret Hero. The Character in Modernity from Confession to Solipsism] (Department of Linguistics and Comparative Literature, University of Cassino 2003) and two collections of political writings La confusione è ancella della menzogna [Confusion is the Handmaid of Falsehood] (Quintadicopertina, 2012) and La società idiota [The Fool Civilisation] (Valigie Rosse, 2018). His literary essays are included in a number of volumes, in Italy and France.

Some of his books of poetry are Colonne d’aveugles (translated in French by Pascal Leclercq, Le Clou Dans Le Fer, 2007), La distrazione [Distraction] (Montano Award, Luca Sossella, 2008), Commiato da Andromeda [Valediction to Andromeda] (Ciampi Award, Valigie Rosse, 2011) La grande anitra [The Big Duck] (Oèdipus, 2013) and Poesie e prose (1998-2016): un’autoantologia [Poems and Prose (1998-2016): an Auto-anthology] (Dot.com Press, 2017). One of his most recent poetry books, Lettere alla Reinserzione Culturale del Disoccupato has appeared in an Italian (Italic Pequod, 2013), French (translated in French by Stéphane Bouquet, NOUS, 2013) and English edition, Letters to the Cultural Rehabilitation of the Unemployed (translated in English by Sara Elena Rossetti, Patrician Press, 2017).

He also published prose works: Prati / Pelouses [Lawn] (Italian-French bilingual edition, La Camera Verde, 2007) and Ollivud (Prufrock Spa). His first novel, Parigi è un desiderio [Paris is a Wish], was published by Ponte alle Grazie in 2016 (Bridge Award 2017).

His anthology of the French poet Jean-Jacques Viton, Il commento definitivo. Poesie 1984-2008, was published by Metauro in 2009. His work may be found in a variety of Italian contemporary poetry anthologies published in Italy and abroad. He is a member of the literary blog “Nazione Indiana” (www.nazioneindiana.com). He is on the editorial committee of “alfabeta2” (www.alfabeta2.it). He is the curator of “Descrizione del mondo” [Description of the World], a collective project based on exhibitions and on a website (www.descrizionedelmondo.it).

 

Gilles Weinzaepflen is a French poet, musician and film maker born

in Mulhouse (1966). He recently published his third poetry book Soleil grigri (Lanskine, 2018) and gave readings with the musician David Fenech (Maison de la Poésie de Paris 2018, Maison Julien Gracq, 2018). As a film maker, he shot La poésie s’appelle reviens (2011), a documentary that presents an overview of the contemporary poetic field. The previous film Prelude au sommeil (2008) is a portrait of the electronic pop composer Jean-Jacques Perrey (1929-2016). Both films are visible on youtube. In the forthcoming Le Liseré vert, Gilles films the border stones of the ancient Franco-German border (1871-1918). Musician under the name Toog, he released 7 records (United States, Germany, England, France, Japan), countries where he toured with the scottish artist Momus. His last record The Prepared public is a dialog between piano melodies and field recording (Karaoke Kalk, 2017). Gilles wrote 32 songs for the broadcast Zone de libre échange on France Culture. He composed the music of 4 theatre plays directed by Myriam Marzouki (Festival d’Avignon 2013) on French contemporary texts (Festival d’Avignon 2013). He collaborates with Emmanuelle Pireyre (prix Médicis 2012) on musical performances. In 2004 he released the album Lou étendue with Asia Argento, a project crossing the experience of Apollinaire during WWI (poems to Lou) and the 0911 catastroph.

Gilles Weinzaepflen est poète, musicien et réalisateur. Il tient un site web: http://gillesweinzaepflen.com/ et un blog. Gilles Weinzaepflen a été publié en revues: Les Cahiers du refuge, Coïncidences, Action poétique, Nioques, Minimum Rock'n Roll, Chroniques Errantes, Petite, Le Quartanier (Canada), Lumea de Maine (Roumanie). En novembre 2007 paraît L'Égalité des signes aux éditions Le Quartanier (Canada) et ensuite il est présenté dans l'anthologie Ivar Ch'Vavar et camarades publiée par Yves di Manno chez Flammarion. En 2011, Michaël Batalla et les éditions Le Clou dans le fer publient «Noël Jivaro» dans la collection «Expériences poétiques»; ce recueil de 128 pages regroupe 10 années d'écriture. Il prépare actuellement un second livre qui fonctionne en diptyque avec «Noël Jivaro». En tant que musicien et cinéaste, Gilles Weinzaepflen a réalisé en 2010 le documentaire «La Poésie s'appelle reviens» (56 minutes), qui offre un regard sur la poésie contemporaine et ses enjeux et, précedemment, en 2008, «Prélude au sommeil» (52 minutes), portrait du compositeur et pionnier français du son électronique Jean-Jacques Perrey. Gilles Weinzaepflen travaille sa musique en solo depuis l'âge de 16 ans, après avoir joué du synthétiseur dans des groupes de rock new wave mulhousiens. En 1995, il a rencontré à Paris le chanteur anglais Momus qui l'entraîne en tournée en Europe, aux Etats-Unis, au Japon et au Canada. Momus publie 6633, le premier album de Gilles Weinzaepflen rebaptisé Toog, sur son label Analog Baroque en Angleterre, chez Cherry Red. Ce disque sort aux Etats-Unis sur Le Grand Magistery, en licence chez Wasabi/BMG. Ce lien avec une major américaine permet à cet opus mêlant piano minimaliste, sons électroniques et paroles surréalistes en français, une exposition exceptionnelle. Le disque sort au Japon chez Flavour of Sound. En 2001, le second album Easy Toog for Beginners livre quelques chansons en anglais; des collaborations ont lieu avec le chanteur français Flòp, le saxophoniste Etienne Jaumet. En 2010, le 6ème album de Toog intitulé Goto est sorti chez Karaoke Kalk (Allemagne). La chanson titre est chantée par le musicien français David Fenech. Dans ce disque, Toog s'attache à déstructurer la forme couplet/refrain de la chanson pop, notamment sur les titres «My house», «La chambre noire». Toog prépare actuellement un 7ème album non chanté (piano, électronique, sons).

Sean Cole est l’auteur de Itty City (Pressed Wafer), One Train (Dusie, 2012) et une collection de poèmes en forme de cartes postales intitulée The December Project (Boog Literature). Dans l’anthologie Starting Today: 100 Poems for Obama's First 100 Days, le poème du 95^ième jour est écrit par Sean. Ses poèmes ont également été publié dans des revues Pavement Saw, Black Clock, Court Green, Pom Pom, Carve, Torch, Dad et Boog City, parmi d'autres. Au delà du domaine littéraire, Sean Cole participe à des émissions ou à des créations radiophoniques sur NPR (National Public Radio, www.NPR.org ), en particulier pour l’émission "Radiolab." Cette lecture marquera sa première visite à la ville de Paris.

He will also have a brand new Dusie Press chap for sale at the reading, called ONE TRAIN (Dusie, 2012). In the anthology "Starting Today: 100 Poems for Obama's First 100 Days," Sean's was day 95. He is also public radio reporter and producer and is currently working for the NPR program "Radiolab." This will be his first time in Paris.
