Patrick Beurard-Valdoye est poète et traducteur qui vit entre Paris, Belfort et Lyon (où il enseigne à l'École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon) en France. A publié plus d'une vingtaine de livres de poésie et donné une centaine de performances poétiques et récitals dans douze pays. Il développe la notion d’arts poétiques, traversant la création littéraire, l’histoire et l’histoire des arts ; tentant de renouveler leurs modes de récit. À Berlin, il commença le Cycle des exils, qu’il poursuit actuellement. (Il nous lira un extrait de ce travail ce soir !) Au préalable s’élabore une approche d’enquête sur des lieux d’exil, de témoignages oraux et de recherche en archive. Après Diaire, Mossa, La fugue inachevée, Le narré des îles Schwitters (publiés aux éditions Al Dante), Gadjo-Migrandt (Poésie/Flammarion) se consacre pour une part, au Bauhaus, au Black Mountain College, à l’École de Vienne comme à l’École de New-York. Il a également publié plusieurs autres ouvrages, notamment: Itinerrance, site cité citain (Obsidiane, 2004) ; Théorie des noms (Textuel, coll. « l'œil du poète », 2006) ; Le messager d'Aphrodite (Obsidiane, 2009). Ron Horning vit et travaille à Beacon, New York, mais a également vécu au Brasil et en Grèce. Ses poèmes et ses collaborations avec d’autres poètes, ainsi que ses traductions du portuguese, français et latin, ont paru dans The New Yorker, Exquisite Corpse, Vanitas, Gerry Mulligan, Sal Mimeo, Insurance, The Hat, Provincetown Poetry, et Telephone. Il compose des sortes de « rapports » et de comptes rendus pour Aperture, The Village Voice, LA Weekly, index et The Brooklyn Rail.La maison d’édition de livres d’artiste, Color Tresury, a publié un ensemble de 3 poèmes par Ron Horning en 2014, intitulé From Philip Drunk to Philip Sober.

Matt Reeck est poète, traducteur (de l’Urdu, coréen, français…) et éditeur. Il est doctorant en littérature comparée à l’Université de Californie à Los Angeles—son sujet de thèse est basé sur la question « comment décrire l’inconnu ? ». Ses poèmes et traductions ont été publiés dans de nombreux revues aux Etats-Unis, en Inde et en France. Il est l’auteur de deux livres de prose Mirages of the Mind (New Directions, 2015 et Vintage India, 2014) et Bombay Stories (Vintage International 2014 et Random House-India 2012), et de 5 plaquettes de poésie:“The Pastoral City” (Little Red Leaves),“The Necessary City” (Konundrum Engine, lit.konundrum.com/), “Midwinter” (Fact-Simile), “Sieve” (Other Rooms), et “Love Songs & Laments” (Mipoesis). Il a gagné le prix de poésie de Bomb Magazine, sélectionné par Susan Howe, et a reçu des bourses des organisations tels que le Fulbright, le PEN, et le NEA. Du français, il a traduit des entrevues de Rachid Djaïdani, Mehdi Charef, et Emile Benveniste ainsi que de la poésie d’Abdelkébir Khatibi et de la prose de Zahia Rahmani. En tant qu’éditeur, il travaille avec la collectivité de Staging Ground où l’on vient d’éditer la plaquette "Based on the Bush of Ghosts" du poète qui vient de Los Angeles, Will Alexander, staginggroundmag.com.

Patrick Beurard-Valdoye is a poet and translator who divides his time between Paris, Belfort and Lyon (where he teaches at the Lyon School of Fine Arts) in France. He has published over 20 books and has long been deeply involved in the exploration of crossovers between literary and visual arts practices, as well as practices related to the writing/creation of History and of art history. His recent books have focused on borders, movement, exile, refugee status and the interstices of human crossovers and landscapes in varying time periods. When in Berlin in 1982, Beurard-Valdoye began a collection called his Cycle of exils (Cycle des exils), and he will be sharing an extract from this work with Ivy Writers Paris tonight. This current project is built on his preceding explorations into archives, witness, exile, places of exile and oral accounts of stories linked to these themes, as can be noted in his collections Diaire, Mossa, La fugue inachevée, Le narré des îles Schwitters (publiés aux éditions Al Dante), or Gadjo-Migrandt (Poésie/Flammarion). He also completed a work on the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College, and the Vienna and New York Schools—a kind of poetic critical biographical text which he has performed in Paris and elsewhere, and which acts in ways as a collage of readings, anecdotes and images emerging and traversing a mindscape. This bio of course only touches on the massive body of work already published by Patrick Beurard-Valdoye, including recent volumes of books such as: Itinerrance, site cité citain (Obsidiane, 2004) ; Théorie des noms (Textuel, coll. « l'œil du poète », 2006) ; Le messager d'Aphrodite (Obsidiane, 2009). Ron Horning lives and works in Beacon, New York, and revisits and rewrites old homes Greece and Brazil as often as he can. He and his wife, the painter Anna West, are on their way to Greece now. His poems, collaborations with other poets, and translations from French, Brazilian, and classical Latin poetry have appeared in The New Yorker, Exquisite Corpse, Vanitas, Gerry Mulligan, Sal Mimeo, Insurance, The Hat, Provincetown Poetry, and Telephone, and he has written prose reports for Aperture, The Village Voice, LA Weekly, index, and The Brooklyn Rail. Matt Reeck is a poet, translator (from Korean, Urdu, French and other languages), and a publisher. He is completing his PhD in Comp Lit at UCLA. He is the author of five chapbooks of poetry :“The Pastoral City” (Little Red Leaves, www.textileseries.com/shop/the-pastoral-city-by-matt-reeck),“The Necessary City” (Konundrum Engine, lit.konundrum.com/), “Midwinter” (Fact-Simile), “Sieve” (Other Rooms), and “Love Songs & Laments” (Mipoesis). He was awarded the Bomb Magazine poetry prize, selected by Susan Howe, and has also received grants from Fulbright, PEN, and the NEA. His translations can be read in two volumes, Bombay Stories and Mirages of the Mind. Née à San Francisco, Cole Swensen partage sa vie entre des États Unis et Paris. Elle a publié quinze livres de poésie ; les plus récents sont Gravesend (2012), Greensward (2010) et Ours (2008) ; Landscapes on a Train apparaitra en automne 2015. Parmi d’autres prix, son travail a gagné deux fois le Pushcart Prize, ainsi que le San Francisco State Poetry Center Book Award, le Iowa Poetry Prize, le New American Writing Award, et le National Poetry Series, et était un finaliste pour le National Book Award et deux fois pour le Los Angeles Times Book Award. Elle a reçue aussi des bourses tel qu’un Guggenhiem Fellowship et, pour ses traductions, celles de l’Association Beaumarchais et de la Direction du Livre et de la Lecture.

Les plus récents de ces six recueils traduit en français sont Si riche heure, L’Age de verre, et Le nôtre, tous traduit par Maïtreyi et Nicolas Pesques et publié par José Corti. Ses poèmes ont apparus dans les revues Action Poétique, Java, Vacarme, Nioque, Hors-Bords, et Koshkonong. 

Egalement traductrice, elle traduit de la poésie française contemporaine; elle a publié des traductions des livres de Jean Frémon, Suzanne Doppelt, Olivier Cadiot, Pascale Monnier, Pierre Alferi, Nicolas Pesquès, et Caroline Dubois, et a gagné le PEN USA Award in Literary Translation pour l’un de ses volumes. DONNA STONECIPHER est l’auteure de quatre livres : The Reservoir (2002), Souvenir de

Constantinople (2007), The Cosmopolitan (2008), et Model City (2015). Ses poèmes ont été publiés dans de nombreuses revues et traduits en six langues. Elle traduit du français et de l’allemand. Sa traduction d’une nouvelle de Ludwig Hohl, Ascent, a paru en 2012. Elle vit à Berlin.

Cole Swensen is the author of fourteen volumes of poetry—most recently Gravesend (2012), Greensward (2010) and Ours (2008) and a collection of critical essays Noise that Stays Noise (U of MI Press, 2011). Landscapes on a Train will be appearing this fall, (Oct/Nov 2015). Her books have twice been finalists for the Los Angeles Times Book Award and once for the National Book Award, and she has won the Iowa Poetry Prize, the San Francisco State Poetry Center Book Award, and the National Poetry Series. A 2006 Guggenheim Fellow, she was the co-editor of the Norton anthology American Hybrid and the guest editor of BAX: Best American Experimental Writing 2014. Also a translator, she has won the PEN USA Award in Literary Translation, and been a finalist three times for the Best Translated Book Award. She is the founding editor of La Presse, a press specializing in French poetry in translation. She has taught at the University of Denver and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and currently teaches at Brown University. She is also a translator of numerous French authors, including Jean Frémon, Suzanne Doppelt, Olivier Cadiot, Pascale Monnier, Pierre Alferi, Nicolas Pesquès, and Caroline Dubois.

Marie Borel is a traveller, author and translator. Jeff Hilson est l’auteur des livres stretchers (civières) (2006, Reality Street), Bird bird (oiseau oiseau) (2009, Landfill) et In The Assarts (Dans les Assarts) (2010, Veer Books) et le directeur de l’ouvrage The Reality Street Book of Sonnets (2008, Reality Street). Il travaille actuellement sur un poème longue et séquentiel qui s’intitule “Organ Music” (Musique d’orgue) dont les extraits ont paru dans les revues littéraires Fence, Infinite Editions, Open Letter, Painted, spoken, VLAK, Cambridge Literary Review et sous la forme d’une très belle affiche par les éditions Crater Press. Laurent Grisel, né en 1952 à Boulogne-Billancourt, est poète et traducteur. Pendant près de six ans, ouvrier en banlieue parisienne puis dans le Dunkerquois. Durant neuf ans, permanent national d’une association de consommateurs et d’usagers (CLCV). De 1992 à 2001, conseil en environnement (Écobilan SA). Maintenant, Il donne l’essentiel de son temps à l’écriture. Richard Makin vient d’Angleterre. Il est écrivain, poète et plasticien. Son roman MOURNING (Deuil) vient de sortir chez Equus Press (mai 2015). C’est le dernier volet dans une trilogie qui inclut Dwelling (Reality Street) et Work (Great Works). Parmi ses autre publications, il y a notamment Forword et Universlipre (les deux édité par les éditions Equipage) et il a des poèmes dans les anthologies  Foil (Etruscan Books) et The Reality Street Book Of Sonnets. Édith Msika est née en février 1957, dix jours avant la parution des Mythologies. L’enfance s’enfuit rapidement à Reims et à Manosque. À peine plus âgée, elle rejoignit Paris après un détour bordelais, s’y installa, y fit des études de linguistique et de littérature. Elle exerça par hasard la profession de sémiologue. Elle avait entretemps écrit des poèmes de jeunesse qui, après avoir été publiés, furent brûlés. Des années blanches passèrent. Jeff Hilson is a British author whose books include stretchers (2006, Reality Street), The Reality Street Book of Sonnets (ed.) (2008, Reality Street), Bird bird (2009, Landfill) and In The Assarts (2010, Veer Books). He is currently working on a long poem-sequence called “Organ Music” sections of which have appeared in Fence, Infinite Editions, Open Letter, Painted, spoken, VLAK, Cambridge Literary Review and as a very attractive broadside from Crater Press. He teaches Creative Writing at the University of Roehampton, London and runs the reading series Xing the Line.

Laurent Grisel, born in 1952 at Boulogne-Billancourt, is a poet and translator. For almost 6 years he was a factory worker in the Paris suburbs and then in the region of Dunkerk. For 9 years, permanent memeber of a national consumer use association (CLCV). From 1992 to 2001, environmental consultant (Écobilan SA). Currently, he devotes the majority of his time to writing. Among his many books, one might note his poetry collections Poèmes brefs, poèmes faciles à lire; (La Font Secrète, VII, Plein Chant éd., Bassac, Charente ; Du Lérot éd., Tusson, 1985), S'en sauver, (Wigwam éd., Rennes, 2002), Qui ne disent mot, (in revue Triages, Anthologie 2005, Tarabuste éditeur, Saint-Benoît-du-Sault, avril 2005), Poèmes improvisés sur des thèmes siciliens ou crus tels suivis de Fabriques de clichés, (Palerme, La Notte dei Mile Raconte, juillet 2005) and Bestiaire corse (dessins et mise en page de Benoît Jacques, Benoît Jacques Books, Montigny-sur-Loing, février 2006) as well as the artist books Un hymne à la paix (16 fois), (manuscrit peint, avec Anne Slacik, Saint-Denis) and Cycle de vie, (avec Antoine Perrot, collection 5 / 5, TranSignum). Richard Makin is a British writer, poet and artist. His latest novel, Mourning, was just published by Equus Press in May, 2015. This is the third in a trilogy of books, following on from Dwelling (Reality Street) and Work (Great Works). Other publications include Forword and Universlipre (both Equipage Press) and the anthologies Foil (Etruscan Books) and The Reality Street Book Of Sonnets. He has participated as a guest reader for the prose set the past two years of the Prague Poetry Festival and has work in issues of Vlak. Lisa Pasold est romancière, poète et journaliste pour un téléprogramme sur les voyages à paris. Elle vient de Montréal et partage sa vie entre Paris, la Bourgogne, New orleans (USA) et Toronto. Son dernier livre Any Bright Horse (http://ats.lisapasold.com/any_bright_horse/ ) était finaliste pour le 2012 Governor General’s Literary Award. Geist Magazine déclarait que son premier recueil de poésie, Weave (2004) était “un chef d’œuvre”. Son deuxième recueil A Bad Year for Journalists (2006) a été nominé pour le prix Alberta (au Canada). Il a été adapté au théâtre à Toronto en 2007. Barbara Beck est poète, traductrice et, depuis 2002, rédactrice en chef de Upstairs at Duroc, revue  littéraire en anglais publiée à Paris. Elle a publié Vivremourir (L’Act Mem, 2008, en collaboration avec Dominique Quélen), la traduction en français de Livingdying de Cid Corman, et des traductions de poèmes de Vannina Maestri dans la revue américaine Aufgabe.

Dominique Quélen, born in 1962, is a French poet, critic, teacher and translator who lives and works in Lille. Quélen has published over a dozen books of poetry, most recently Loque (Fissile, 2010), Finir ses restes (Rehauts, 2011), Câble à âmes multiples (Fissile, 2011); Des second & premier (L’Âne qui butine, 2012), and Énoncé-types (Théâtre Typographique, 2014). His book Basses contraintes, is forthcoming with Théâtre Typographique in 2015. His poems have earned him fellowships from the CNL in 2006 and 2013 and a variety of writer residencies over the years. He often collaborates with

musicians, for example with Aurélien Dumont on Villa des morts, Le Fils de Prométhée, Frottole des forêts flottantes, Eglog, Satura, Nix, Abîme apogée, Thét®is, etc., with Misato Mochizuki on Oublier Fukushima, with Matthias Krüger on a project called Cloches, with the collective Linges de signes (with poets and musicians Elke de Rijcke, Marie Etienne, David Christoffel et Jean-Michel Espitallier ; Sébastien Béranger, Gilles Schuehmacher, Rodolphe Bourotte, Frédéric Kahn et Aurélien Dumont) and with Klimperei on Alice (the CD is available from Prikosnovénie, 2000).
