Emilie Delcourt is educator, writer, translator and co-editor of parentheses. This first issue has been such a pleasure getting out, and she couldn't be happier with both the process and the final product. Her aim of bringing together a community of writers and offering a space for quality writing in English in Barcelona has been a success and she is excited to publish future issues and continue this conversation. Originally from the US, she made Barcelona her home since 2002. She is co-founder and director of the language school, COLLAGE. Her writing has been published in various journals and magazines, including New American Writing 33, Everyone Has a Good Story, Piel, Libro Rojo and arRELATS.
Harriet Sandilands is an educator, writer and artist. More recently she also was the co-editor of parentheses – a multi-lingual literary magazine, edited and published in Barcelona. She is so honoured to be part of this conversation, celebrating not only of the diversity of language, but also this unique community of readers and writers. Born in England, she has been living in Barcelona for ten years, where has built a poetry machine, written a book, and worked as an art and literature teacher. Currently she is a middle school coordinator, training to be an art therapist, committed to exploring her own creative voice, in order that she can help others to do the same. She has published and been published in various places, including: Travel Notes, El Libro Rojo, Epoema, Hellenic American Union, The Poetry Machine Anthology I, 5 by five writers, Barcelona Ink and Country Music.
Valerie Coulton is the author of OPEN BOOK (Apogee Press, 2011), THE CELLAR DREAMER (Apogee Press, 2007), THE LILY BOOK (Fourteen Hills Press, 2004), and PASSING WORLD PICTURES (Apogee Press, 2003). Her work has appeared in Front Porch, kadar koli, NEW AMERICAN WRITING, Parthenon West Review, and e-poema, among other periodicals. She lives in Barcelona with the poet Edward Smallfield.
Ed Smallfield is the author of “The Pleasure of C,” as well as other poetry collections. This poem is from “Lightning Strikes: 18 Poets. 18 Artists,” published by the Dolby Chadwick Gallery last winter.
