BIOS:
Anne Kawala : poète, performeuse, plasticienne, critique, elle a écrit un premier recueil, F.aire L.a F.euille qui est paru en 2008 (éd. Du Clou dans le Fer) et son deuxième est à paraître chez le même éditeur très très bientôt : seul rien’existe, (printemps 2010 !). Elle n’est pas une parisienne (est née à Herlincourt, Pas-de-Calais) mais vous ne la verrez pas sans talons. Il faut savoir qu’elle court avec parce qu’elle est souvent en retard. Mais elle ne fait pas ça pendant ses lectures (elle n’est pas en retard, elle ne court pas) : ses bras s’agitent dans une sorte de chorégraphie bizarre, elle lit debout derrière un pupitre une possible traduction de ses poèmes, soit une partition composée autour de textes et de poésies visuelles. Ses lectures se passent la plupart du temps dans des lieux d’art contemporain (BétonSalon, Point Ephémère…) parce qu’elle a fait les Beaux-Arts de Lyon. Elle écrit également des textes à mi-chemin entre poésie et critique (tentant de biaiser la critique universitaire). C’est aussi pour ça qu’elle dirige une revue en ligne, KazaK, avec Sarah Tritz, ainsi que RoToR, avec la même et Esther Salmona en plus!, qu'elle participe au groupe de recherche ACTH, situé quelque part entre Lyon (ENBAL) et Paris (EHESS).Elle a collaboré avec des chorégraphes, les partitions des metteurs en scène, etc. D'où découle notamment une pièce de théâtre, La terreur du boomerang, commandée par Emilie Rousset, pour l'Atelier de la Comédie de Reims (jouée en janvier-février 2010). Camille Martin is an American-born and raised Toronto poet and collage artist. The author of Sonnets (Exeter: Shearsman Books, 2010) and Codes of Public Sleep (Toronto: BookThug, 2007), she was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, and spend her childhood in Lafayette, Louisiana. A classical musician from an early age, she earned graduate degrees in both music and English literature. After residing in New Orleans for fourteen years, following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 she moved to Toronto, where she teaches writing and literature at Ryerson University. Her current work-in-progress is a long poem entitled The Evangeline Papers, based on her Cajun/Acadian heritage and drawing on her recent visit to Nova Scotia to participate in an archaeological dig at Beaubassin and to research Acadian and Mik'maq history and culture. Bios:
Pierre Joris is a poet, translator, essayist & anthologist who left Luxembourg at 19 and has since lived in France, England, Algeria & the United States. He has published over forty books, most recently Canto Diurno #4: The Tang Extending from the Blade, an 2010 Ahadada Books (ebook), Justifying the Margins: Essays 1990-2006 and Aljibar I & II (poems). Other recent publications include the CD Routes, not Roots and Meditations on the Stations of Mansour Al-Hallaj 1-21. Recent translations include Paul Celan: Selections, and Lightduress by Paul Celan, which received the 2005 PEN Poetry Translation Award. With Jerome Rothenberg he edited the award-winning anthologies Poems for the Millennium (volumes I & II). He teaches at the University of Albany, SUNY. Oana Avasilichioaei : Poète et traductrice (du français et du roumain vers l’anglais), Oana Avasilichioaei vit et travaille à Montréal. Elle a publié, notamment, les recueils de poésie Abandon (2005) et feria : a poempark (2008), une traduction de la poésie de Nichita Stănescu intitulé Occupational Sickness (2006), et un livre écrit en collaboration avec la poète canadienne Erín Moure intitulé Expeditions of a Chimæra (2009). Sa traduction du recueil de poésie Les Îles, de l’écrivaine québécoise Louise Cotnoir, sera publiée en 2011. Elle participe aux diverses activités littéraires et professionnelles au Canada, aux États-Unis, au Mexique et en Europe. Le livre de poèmes le plus récent de l’auteur Mark Goldstein de Toronto, After Rilke: To Forget You Sang, a été publié par BookThug au printemps 2008. After Rilke est une série de traductions homophoniques basée sur les Voix, un travail écrit par Rilke en 1906. Plus récemment, sa propre petite presse, Beautiful Outlaw, a publié Handwerk, un ensemble de six chapbooks par les poètes Phil Hall, Erin Moure, Oana Avasilichioaei, Angela Carr, Jay MillAr et Goldstein. Sa collection de poemes suivante, Tracelanguage: A Shared Breath, les trans-traductions le travail séminal de 1967 du poète Paul Celan, Atemwende, vient d'être publiée par BookThug (printemps 2010).

Poète et traductrice Canadienne Angela Carr est l’auteur des receuils The Rose Concordance (BookThug, 2009) et Ropewalk (Snare, 2006). Ses poèmes ont paru dans des revues littéraires au Canada, notamment Open Letter, Jacket, Action Yes et textsound. Elle a presenté sur la traduction poétique à CUNY et l’Université de Calgary (Translating Translating Montréal). Elle enseigne au Toronto New School of Writing, mais elle vit à Montréal.

Bronwyn Haslam est un poète originaire de Calgary, au Canada. Elle a étudié à l'université de Calgary, où elle a obtenu un B.A. (hons) en littérature anglaise et un B.Sc. en biologie cellulaire et moléculaire. Ses poèmes ont été publiés dans des revues canadiennes telles que Matrix, The Capilano Review et The Last Supper. Elle habite actuellement à Montréal, où elle travaille comme écrivaine médicale.

Christophe Ippolito, professeur adjoint au Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta), travaille sur la modernité et l’antimodernité. Poète américain et bouddhiste zen, Norman Fischer publie depuis 1979. Dans les années 70 et 80, il a été associé avec les poètes L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E, mais son travail va au-delà d’un seul style ou mouvement. Poet and Zen Buddhist Norman Fischer, a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, has been publishing poetry since 1979. Loosely associated with the L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E poets of the seventies and eighties, he maintains close creative and personal relationships with many writers from that movement. As is the case with most engaged writers who have published much over many years, Fischer’s work has changed over time and defies easy definitions. Fischer rejects the idea of his poetry as an expression or confession emanating from a unified and knowing self. “There’s no self or person, just what arises...writing is words, how they sound, how they look lying on the page.” Fischer’s poetry traces a consciousness well aware, albeit often enough puzzled, by the ever changing conditions of self/ other/ environment/ language. His writing reminds us of the idea that language is at once an avenue of imprisonment and liberation, and we may never be altogether certain which. British poet Rufo Quintavalle was born in London in 1978, studied at Oxford and the University of Iowa, and now lives in Paris where he is an active member of the Anglo literary scene. He is the author of the chapbook, Make Nothing Happen (Oystercatcher Press, 2009) and his poems have appeared in Barrow Street, Versal, Tears in the Fence, Great Works, Shadowtrain, The Wolf, The London Magazine, MiPOesias and elimae (see links below). He is on the editorial board for the literary magazine, Upstairs at Duroc and is currently acting poetry editor for the prize-winning webzine, Nthposition. Pascal Poyet is a poet, publisher and translator. He is the author of Au Compère (Le Bleu du Ciel, 2005), Expédients (La Chambre, 2002), Causes Cavalières (L'Attente, collection Week-end, 2000) and L'Embarras (Patin & Couffin, 2000). His work has also appeared in various journals (Issue, The Germ, If, Action Poétique, Doc(k)s…), exhibition catalogues and most recently, in the bilingual edition POEM : Poets On (an) Exchange Mission (Fish Drum Inc./Double Change, 2009) with English translations by Macgregor Card. Pascal Poyet has translated numerous works by contemporary American poets and artists such as David Antin (je n’ai jamais su quelle heure il était a paru aux éditions Héros-Limite en 2008), Rosmarie Waldrop (Dans n'importe quelle langue, contrat maint, 2006), Peter Gizzi (Revival, CIPM/Spectres Familiers 2003), John Baldessari (Bars de rencontres et Montaigne, contrat maint, 2002), Charles Olson (Commencements, collectif, Théâtre Typographique, 2000), Abigail Child (Climat/Plus, Format Américain, 1999). Since 1998, he has co-helmed éditions contrat main along with Goria (http://www.contratmaint.com), a Small press which publishes texts by contemporary poets and artists, essays, translations and texts by translators in small booklet form based on the Brazilian "litteratura de cordel" (string literature) format.

Fiat Lust, IKKO, 2006). Né à Rennes, il vit et travaille à Paris où il dirige la collection Expériences poétiques des éditions Le clou dans le fer – "tout un poème, ce nom, mais aussi tout un paysage". Sa réflexion sur les modalités de fabrication et de publication de la poésie contemporaine le conduit à de multiples collaborations, notamment avec des architectes. Colin Mahar est poète et musicien. Né à New York, il a grandit au canada et depuis plusieurs années il vit et travaille à Paris. Il faisait parti du groupe du rock Hamper (en hiatus actuellemtn). Quelques extraits de ses chansons ainsi que deux vidéos de son travail sont disponible sur My Space à: www.myspace.com/colinmahar où il dit que sa musique trouve ses racines dans celle des artistes tels que Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Vic Chessnut et puis toutes sortes de musique des cowboys! Il crée actuellment une série de chansons basées sur des traductions et des traductions "erronées" d'Emily Dickinson dont il nous jouera quelques morceaux.

Joe Ross: the author of twelve books of poetry, Joe Ross was born in Pennsylvania. After graduating magna cum laude from the Honors Program at Temple University in Philadelphia. He moved to Washington, D.C. where he wrote his first book, Guards of the Heart, consisting of four plays written in poetic form. In D.C., Ross worked at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and was extraordinarily active in the cultural scene. He served as the President of the Board of the Poetry Committee at The Folger Shakespeare Library from 1994-1997 and as the Literary Editor of the arts bi-monthly The Washington Review from 1991-1997. He also Co-founded and directed the In Your Ear poetry reading series at the District of Columbia Arts Center. The American Voyage, in particular, concerns the idealism of American culture and its failures as a culture to live up to those ideals. Michaël Batalla was born in Reims but currently lives and works in Paris where he is a poet and publisher, directing the collection expériences poétiques for le Clou dans le fer. His books include Poèmes paysages maintenant, (Jean-Michel Place, Paris, 2007) and il vient, (le Clou dans le fer, Reims, 2002). Among his many recent publications in reviews are (Cumulus [10 petits poèmes purs] –, L’étrangère no23-24 [éd. La lettre volée] ; Théorêv’rie de la source, Po&sie no128-129 [éd. Belin] ; and the chapbook Plein centre – tentative d’observation d’un inobservable réel : contemplation II, MIR no2 [éd. IKKO]). Forthcoming in a bilingual edition from the publisher éditions VMCF, accompanying a series of photographes by French architecture and landscape photogrpaher Benoit Fougeirol Autour/Around assembles a series of 20 poems by Batalla which have also been translated into English by Christophe Marchand-Kiss. Batalla's poetry can be read as a kind of research on the effects of abstraction and the formal consequences of the hyper-precision of meaning. One of the methods he employs to this end is a kind of elongated observation of diverse societal or mental phenomena.

COLIN MAHAR: Born in New York City, raised in Montréal, Colin Joseph Wolfgang Mahar moved down to San Francisco to pursue poetry. He then started writing songs on a pawn-shop-bought mariachi guitar. His first chords were learned from Punk Rock Pete. Back in Montréal his musical training was taken up by local poet/composer David Ranger and with his help Colin wrote his first tunes. He soon left for Paris and not long after, David ended up there too. After a return to San Francisco (to study poetics at the New College of California) and then a return to Paris (to write and drink wine) Colin joined David, Amanda Watters and Florent Selig to form HAMPER - a great rock band that is now on semi-permanent hiatus after the bassist and lead guitar player decided to have a baby together and move to Ottawa. In Paris, he has performed poetry as well as music, and you can see/hear an excerpt on the SpokenWord Paris blog (click title to see video of Blue Song).
